She made the sacrifice in the hair follicle department by shaving her head to play a cancer victim on Broadway.
But the first shoots of recovery since Cynthia Nixon's run in Wit were obvious when she attended a question and answer session in New York tonight.
The Sex and the City actress had been playing a terminally ill college professor since January, and just finished its run almost a fortnight ago.

That's what it is: And there were obvious signs that her hair was growing back following her Broadway stint

And she seems to have already tired of the bald look if pictures of her at the 2012 Drama Desk Panel Discussion, which was held at the trendy Sardi's Restaurant just off Times Square.
There was noticeable stubble on the head of the 45-year-old lesbian actress as she posed at the event, which was also attended by theatre luminaries such as This is Spinal Tap star Michael McKean.
The discussion focused on such topics as the challenges of playing iconic roles, the differences between creating a new role and playing an established part.
Cynthia dressed down for the occasion, wearing a comfortable brown dress, while adding a touch of glamour to the look with a gold necklace.

Quite how the actress will feel about the show's run ending though is unclear, especially as it has been tipped to pick up some prestigious Tony Awards.
She also won rave reviews for her performance in the play, which had previously starred luvvie favourite Emma Thompson in the main role of Vivian Bearing.
The New York Times' reviewer Ben Brantley admitted he was at first sceptical she was right for the role, but was ultimately won over.
He said: 'Ms. Nixon’s performance cut closer and closer to the bone. And the emotional transparency I associate with this actress becomes more and more pronounced, revealing the unquantifiable terror as well as the skull beneath the skin.'

Together again: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito are in talks to reprise their 1988 movie Twins, in which they played test tube brothers Julius and Vincent

We last saw them together on screen in 1988 when they first brought the hilarity of Twins to fans.
And now Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito are reportedly set to reteam as they prepare to resurrect their characters for a sequel.
But this time they'll find another unlikely brother - in the form of comedian Eddie Murphy.
Schwarzenegger, 64, played Julius Benedict in the first movie outing, who was conceived by test tube and went on a search for his long lost brother.
And DeVito took on the role of his brother Vincent, who turned out to be much shorter and a crook after failing to get any of the good genes.
Now the stars have reportedly started discussions to revisit the film, but with another surprise sibling thrown into the mix for the follow up, according to Heat Vision Blog.

Murphy is thought to be the favourite to take on the role of the third brother in the film, which still remains Schwarzenegger's highest grossing comedy movie.
And original director Ivan Reitman is also set for a return - but he'll just act as producer along with his Montecito Picture Co. partners Joe Medjuk, Tom Pollock and Ali Bell.
The film now needs a director and a writer to take on the script.

It will mark a screen comeback for Schwarzenegger after he left his post of California Governor last year.
The former body builder made a brief comeback in 2010's The Expendables, and has a few movies in the pipeline.
But his initial comeback stalled after he split from wife Maria Shriver last year, following news he had fathered a lovechild with a member of house staff over a decade earlier.

The final piece of the jigsaw was added in place as the Shard building in London was topped off.
It will now take it's place as Europe's tallest inhabited building, standing 310 metres into the London skyline.
A steel spire weighing about 500 tonnes was placed at the top of the building, in Southwark near London Bridge, yesterday.
And, not surprisingly, it needed specific tools to help it into place - specifically the UK's largest crane.
Work on the Shard began in February 2009 and an estimated £450million has been spent on its construction so far.
The building will offer uninterrupted 360-degree views of the capital, stretching for 40 miles in every direction.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the view from an observatory that will be 72 floors up.

Billed as a ‘vertical city’, it will comprise offices up to floor 28, then three floors of restaurants; a five-star 19-storey hotel of 200 rooms; ten apartments over 12 floors – each seven times larger than a semi-detached house and likely to fetch tens of millions of pounds each; and, finally, the observatory and spire.
Designed by Italian Renzo Piano to resemble an iceberg emerging from the Thames, The Shard has not been without controversy.
English Heritage has expressed fears about the ‘major and detrimental’ impact on views of St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London and the Palace of Westminster.

Sellar Property Group says that co-ordination of langauges written on signs - including Romanian, Polish Bulgarian, Russian, Albanian, Lithuanian and Punjabi - has been ‘second to none’.
Australian Tony Veal, 33, a project manager, said: ‘Now my friends come from all over the world.
'Almost every continent is represented here, which makes for some good conversations about past experiences from diverse backgrounds.’
Lithuanian administrator Simona Visinskyte, 23, said: ‘Everything that’s impossible becomes possible in London.’

One is black and has big brown eyes. The other is a blue-eyed blonde with the palest of skin. They might share the same cheeky smile, but side by side, they could hardly look less alike. Yet remarkably, Kian and Remee are twins, born a minute apart.
The pair owe their appearance to a one in a million combination of their parents’ genes. Mother Kylee Hodgson and father Remi Horder both have white mothers and black fathers.
The startling result is a two-tone set of delightful little girls.
They first attracted international attention when they were featured in the Mail at less than a year old.

Sister act: The twins are in different classes at primary school, and have different interests

Now, approaching their seventh birthday, they have never asked why they don’t look the same, nor have they ever experienced any racial prejudice.
‘They are such a perfect example of how it should be,’ their mother told the Mail. ‘They are not bothered about their skin colour. It’s not the big issue everyone else seems to see it as. It isn’t important to them at all – it’s about what they’re like underneath.’
Kian and her 60-second older sister were delivered in April 2005 by caesarean section.

Kylee, now 25, recalls the moment she saw them for the first time: ‘I noticed that both of them had beautiful blue eyes,’ she said.
‘But while Remee’s hair was blonde, Kian’s was black and she had darker skin. To me, they were my kids and they were just normal. I thought they would start to look the same as time went on.’
Time, however, only accentuated their differences. Kian’s eyes changed colour and her skin got darker. Remee’s complexion got lighter and her curly hair stayed blonde. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Kylee found herself fielding questions about whose children they were, or who Kian’s fair-haired friend was, when she pushed them in their side-by-side buggy.
‘People would ask me why I dressed the children the same,’ Kylee said. ‘I’d just say: “because they’re twins,” and leave people to work it out. It kind of irritated me at first, but everyone in my area got to know they were twins and accepted it. It was only strangers or outsiders who didn’t know.’
Although they share a common bond, the twins are already doing things their own way.

Their appearance may be ebony and ivory, but in character they are chalk and cheese. They learned to walk and talk at different times, even though their first word – ‘Juice!’ – was identical.
Kian, according to her mother, ‘is a bit bossier, a bit louder’. She added:
‘Remee is a bit more laid back. She’ll think a bit longer before she does something.’
Today they are in different classes at school and have different sets of friends.
They both love dancing and sing along to the same records – mostly New York rapper Nicki Minaj and pop star Rihanna.
But their interests are different, Kian has a love of animals and her sister enjoys cookery.
Like many twins though, they have an unspoken, almost intuitive affinity.

It is the film that fans around the globe have been waiting for - the movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins' first The Hunger Games novel.
But while the film looks set to become the biggest grossing US box office hit of 2012 so far, a shocking new racism row has started over the casting of Amandla Stenberg and Dayo Okeniyi.
Stenberg stars as 12-year-old Rue, the tribute from District 11 who lead character Katniss (played by Jennifer Lawrence) teams up with in the area for the annual Hunger Games 'fight to the death' contest.

Translation to screen: The complaints about the casting comes after author Suzanne Collins wrote that Rue had 'dark brown skin'

And Okeniyi plays Thresh, the tough male tribute from the same district as Rue.
But the casting of the duo in the film has sparked comments from a select few fans, who took to Twitter to complain that the parts should not have been played by black actors.
Their shocking comments come despite the fact that author Collins describes both Rue and Thresh as having 'dark brown skin' in her novel.

While another added: 'Why did the producer make all the good characters black?'
Someone else tweeted: 'EWW, rue is black? I'm not watching.'
And another wrote: 'I was pumped about the Hunger Games. Until i learned that a black girl was playing Rue.'
There have also been comments about the casting of Lenny Kravitz at Katniss' stylist Cinna, although Collins' book makes no specific reference to Cinna's appearance.
While Okeniyi has remained silent about the controversy of his casting, Stenberg yesterday released a statement to her fans.

One user wrote on Twitter: 'Why does rue have to be black, not gonna lie kinda ruined the movie.'

The statement read: 'As a fan of the books, I feel fortunate to be part of The Hunger Games family.
'It was an amazing experience; I am proud of the film and my performance. I want to thank all of my fans and the entire Hunger Games community for their support and loyalty.'
In an interview ahead of the movie release, however, Amandla said she didn't picture herself in the role of Rue.

While she began appearing in adverts for companies such as Disney from the tender age of four, Amandla's first screen role was in Colombiana alongside Zoe Saldana and Michael Vartan. She played Saldana as a young girl in the movie.

In a typically comical announcement posted today on his website, the singer, 38, revealed that his wife Ayda Field, 32, is pregnant.
He wrote: 'Hey friendlies, I've been keeping a secret from you all. Me and Ayda are going to be a Mummy and Daddy this year!!!!!!!!
He added: 'We had sex! It works!
'We've seen scans and cried... looked at babies in commercials and teared up... the nursery is already planned.
'Basically I'm in love with a little person growing in mummy's belly... and can't wait to be a daddy. Crying now.
'Much love, much joy. Roberto, Mum and Little Bump. xxx'
The exciting news caused such a large number of fans flock to see Williams' announcement that the site temporarily crashed.
Robbie and Ayda married at their Los Angeles home in August 2010, after a four-year relationship.

The couple played coy with the media over the status of their relationship, with Robbie often confusing reporters by referring to Field as his 'wife' in interviews.

Ayda said shortly after their wedding that she couldn't wait to have kids, but, according to the Daily Mirror at the time, jokingly added: 'I hope they are not minging.
'Some people at my school had the ugliest parents, and they came out pretty. I hope ours gets all the best bits, but it’s pot luck who gets the minging ones. Hmmm, I’ll love them any way, I guess.'
